Castrosua delivers 4 12-meter New City urban buses and 2 18-meter articulated buses to EMTUSA Gijón, bodied on IVECO Urbanway chassis.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Mobility of the Gijón City Council, Esteban Aparicio, presented the new buses in the Plaza Mayor with the participation of the winning children of the ‘A name for your bus’ contest. Present at the presentation were the Manager of EMTUSA Gijón, Juan José Piniella, and the Technical Director, Pablo Sánchez. Also attending were the Commercial Directors of IVECO Bus, Juan Miguel Vázquez, and Castrosua, Ramón Fernández Montojo.

The new 12-meter New City buses have a capacity for 24 passengers and two reserved spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility. To access these spaces, the vehicles are equipped with telescopic ramps. They also have 3 doors for better passenger flow and video surveillance systems connected to the central control room to ensure passenger safety.

Similarly, the 18-meter articulated buses have a capacity for 40 passengers and two reserved spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility. As with the shorter buses, to access these spaces, the vehicles are equipped with telescopic ramps. They also have 3 doors, two in the front section and one in the rear section, for better passenger flow.

Passengers have USB charging ports distributed throughout all units, information monitors, and the latest technology in onboard systems.

The driver’s cabin is ergonomically designed for comfortable and efficient driving. All necessary controls, such as air conditioning, demisting, radio, and signage consoles, are located in the upper dashboard module, easily accessible without obstructing the driver’s visibility.

Furthermore, the new ‘Marea Roja’ (Red Tide) design is being used for the first time on articulated buses. Regarding the ‘christening’ of these vehicles, the names given by the winning children of the contest were unveiled at this event: Gigiabus, El Playín Bus, El Rapidín, El Panchu, Sobreruedas, and Empulsa.
