These awards were created two years ago with the aim of recognizing the best ideas applied to manufacturing, with one award granted per company. Below, we interview the winners of the second edition:
Interview with Alberto Bouzas Rodríguez from Carsa
Alberto Bouzas from Carsa
1.- In which department do you work? How long have you been with the company?
In the Finishing section, and I have been with the company for twelve years.
2.- What was your idea for the continuous improvement process? Did you think you could be the winner?
Previously, the luggage racks for the Stellae were assembled in two pieces, which was more laborious. Now, by making it all in one piece, we have managed to shorten the time and improve the final result.
When I submitted this idea, I didn’t even think about being nominated, let alone winning an award.
3.- How do you feel after receiving an award where your idea was considered the best among more than 200 received?
Honestly, I feel very flattered and proud to have won it.
And, based on the fact that the idea was mine, I must also thank the support provided by the supervisor and the quality department.
Interview with Ricardo Seoane Cao from Castrosua

1.- In which department do you work? How long have you been with the company?
In the structure section, doing multiple tasks, previously in the front ends, now doing shelves, floors, etc..
In January, it will be 20 years since I started at Castrosua. Back then, I played on the company’s team, and I remember how Mr. José Manuel Castro used to ask me during Monday’s coffee how we had done, and if we had lost, he would encourage us to improve for the next game.
2.- What was your idea for the continuous improvement process? Did you think you could be the winner?
There were problems with the front ends because the templates didn’t match, and through adjustments, we managed to make them consistent. It wouldn’t have been possible to develop it without the team, as we all work together. One person alone can’t do anything.
I never thought I could be the winner; in fact, I didn’t come up with the idea, it was already there, it just needed improvement and refinement. I believe that if we can implement an improvement in the structure, which is the first section, the rest of the chain will benefit.
3.- How do you feel after receiving an award where your idea was considered the best among more than 200 received?
I feel proud and grateful to see that if you care, the possible improvements to what we do are taken into account, and in this way, things turn out better. The award is an additional incentive to keep contributing ideas and working hard.
