It is no secret that today work occupies about a third of our day, which is why concepts such as workplace well-being or Corporate Wellness are resonating more and more when we talk about professional environments.
Workplace well-being is a summary of actions and strategies that promote a healthy work environment where the growth and development, both personal and professional, of each worker is fostered through resources and tools to improve their quality of life and well-being levels.
After the pandemic, programs like these have become necessary in the workplace, where, according to data from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), work-related stress alone causes almost 30% of work absences in Spain.
At Castrosua, we believe in the importance of caring for our workers as a fundamental pillar of the brand, which is why in 2021 we launched the Office of Development and Well-being where our colleague, Laura Vergara, a psychology graduate from the University of Santiago de Compostela, a specialist in Positive Psychology and with a Postgraduate degree in Talent Management from the European Business School, helps us enrich and care for the basic pillars involved in our integral well-being.

We share 4 fundamental pillars that are worked on in the Castrosua Office of Development and Well-being:
– Emotional well-being: learning to recognize emotions, developing emotional skills related to their regulation, working on mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion, and, of course, actively fostering the experience of positive emotions.
Our expert’s advice for increasing your emotional health: being proactive in promoting positive emotions in yourself is one of the necessary keys to facing the volatile and challenging environments we face today. Identify the actions that generate the most positive emotions for you and turn them into positive habits.
– Social well-being: if we want to boost our well-being, there is nothing like encouraging quality interpersonal relationships with others. It is the main predictor of long-term happiness and well-being. And it is not surprising, we are social beings and we can obtain great sources of positive emotions from interactions.
Our expert’s advice for developing and enhancing your social skills: work on listening, empathy, or assertiveness and coexist with understanding, respect, and solidarity.
– Physical well-being: taking care of our diet, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly, and taking care of our posture are undoubtedly factors that allow us to improve our physical condition.
Our expert’s advice for giving your physical well-being a boost: choose an activity with which you experience flow (a balance between enjoyment and challenge) to establish solid habits and self-care routines.
– Psychological well-being: it involves consolidating positive psychological capital that allows us to successfully cope with environmental demands. To achieve this, establishing stress management techniques, fostering our resilience, building empowering beliefs and adaptive thinking styles, training perspective-taking, and developing our creativity are some of the aspects that will undoubtedly help us make a difference in the face of any adversity.
Our expert’s advice for building stable psychological well-being: work on resilience through caring for support relationships with family or friends, reviewing achievements and learnings, and knowing and enhancing your character strengths.
From the Well-being Office, we have worked on these pillars with different initiatives and activities. For example, we held a Workshop on Positive Psychology and Personal Well-being where we reviewed the different levers we can activate to enhance each of these pillars, shared experiences, and built a personal action plan.

In addition, we have launched an individualized program aimed at boosting our character strengths where, after identifying them, we jointly create a plan to balance them and make the most of them. Likewise, we continue to contribute to optimizing strengths and skills through a positive leadership program where we work on key factors for caring for these pillars, such as communication, effective conflict resolution, purpose and meaning, and management of shared values.
Along with these actions, through individual ad hoc sessions, we have also worked on and trained active listening and assertiveness, as key aspects for the development of positive social bonds.

With all this, we ask ourselves… What are you going to do today to take care of your well-being?
