The second edition of Expobus Iberia once again brought together the most important exhibitors in the road passenger transport sector from November 21 to 23, 2019, marking another great success for the fair as a showcase for many professionals.
Grupo Castrosua, once again, attended this event at the Galicia ABANCA International Fairgrounds, the largest exhibition park in northwestern Spain. The venue is located in Silleda, a few kilometers from our factory in Santiago de Compostela. In 2019, we presented a Magnus.E at our stand, nearing delivery to Abu Dhabi, and two Stellae coaches. Additionally, another Stellae was exhibited at the MAN stand. All of these bodies could be admired by attendees from the start of the fair.
Let’s learn a bit more about this latest edition of Expobus Iberia.
Thursday: Inauguration and Official Visits
Expobus Iberia was inaugurated on Thursday at 1:00 PM in Hall 1.

On this opening day, we had the opportunity to speak with the Vice President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, and the Mayor of Silleda, Xosé A. Bugallo, who visited our stand to greet us.
According to Revista Viajeros, the Vice President of the Xunta highlighted that the growth of this second edition confirms the success of this fair and consolidates the event as a meeting point and reference for professionals in the sector at a national level, a statement that makes Grupo Castrosua very proud to be part of this II Road Passenger Transport Fair.

Thursday’s activities concluded with the inauguration, as in the previous year, of the classic vehicle exhibition and the availability of different bus models for interested parties to test drive on a circuit. There was also a technical session discussing ‘The Future of Urban Transport’ and a presentation on ‘Omniplus ON Digital Services for Buses and Coaches’.
Friday, November 22: We’re Still Going Strong
Friday was a very intense day, during which we witnessed the traditional competition where various drivers completed a series of tests to win the award for the Best Coach Driver in Spain.
Furthermore, a series of presentations and panel discussions took place. Among them, we can highlight the presentation on the Galicia Transport Plan, given by Ignacio Maestro Saavedra, Director General of Mobility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility of the Xunta de Galicia, and the one by Agustín Gómez Pereira, Secretary General of the National Association of Bus Body Manufacturers (ASCABUS), and a former colleague of Grupo Castrosua, on Advanced Safety Systems in Buses and Coaches, which we discussed previously on our blog.

On our part, we continued to receive visitors at our stand and make professional contacts. Even some of our most loyal social media fans stopped by to say hello, which we always appreciate. Don’t hesitate to visit our stand whenever you have the chance!

Saturday: Farewell and Closing
After intense days at this second edition of Expobus Iberia 2019, Saturday’s activities were concentrated in the early morning hours. On this day, we met the awardee of Best Coach Driver in Spain, and attended the final presentations of the fair. These were given by the Director of Human Resources at ALSA, on ‘The Shortage of Professional Drivers in Passenger Transport and Plans to Promote Employment and Improve the Sector’s Image,’ and by the Secretary of Organization of the Sindicato Libre de Transporte, on ‘The Reality of the Sector from the Drivers’ Perspective. Social Vision of the Sector. The Role of the Administration: Legislation, Sanctions.’
In conclusion, attending Expobus Iberia once again has been a highly rewarding experience, not only for the professional contacts we’ve made but also for the warmth of the attendees and other exhibitors.
We are certainly eager to attend the next edition, which will take place in 2021 and will mark its biennial frequency. This new success for Expobus Iberia is a great opportunity for Grupo Castrosua, but also for the sector, positioning northwestern Spain as a benchmark in this field. Here’s to many more years!
