Santiago de Compostela, October 22, 2015.- The Mayor of Santiago, Martiño Noriega, visited Grupo Castrosua’s facilities this morning for an institutional visit to the company, accompanied by the Councillor for Equality, Economic Development and Tourism, Marta Lois. During the visit, Juan Luis Castro –president of Grupo Castrosua– presented the company’s proposals to promote a “more sustainable urban transport model” to the mayor.
Thus, Juan Luis Castro highlighted that one of the distinctive values of the coachbuilder he leads is its commitment to producing bus and coach models that are “environmentally friendly” and that improve “accessibility, safety and passenger comfort”. Alongside this, he emphasized the importance the company places on innovation as the cornerstone of its Strategic Plan.
All these characteristics, as highlighted by the president of Grupo Castrosua, come together in the New City, the coachbuilder’s new commitment to the urban transport segment. It is a bus that the company has just presented this week to the “international market, within the framework of the prestigious industry trade fair in Kortrijk (Belgium),” indicated Juan Luis Castro. A model that has already received prestigious awards such as the Red Dot Award for best product design.
Company from Santiago and Galicia
Juan Luis Castro also pointed out that the company is proud to have its headquarters in Santiago. “Grupo Castrosua is a company from Santiago and Galicia, with deep roots in this regard,” he stated. The company president especially wanted to thank the mayor for his visit because his presence represents recognition of a working model and corporate philosophy “that has allowed us to position ourselves as one of the benchmark companies within our country in the bus and coach body manufacturing sector.”
For his part, the Mayor of Santiago, Martiño Noriega, expressed his satisfaction at being able to spend the morning “with the management and workers of Grupo Castrosua.” He explained that the visit to the coachbuilder forms part of a schedule of meetings with different “pioneering companies” and representative businesses of the city, with the aim of “learning about their working methods and operations.”
“This is a company that creates many jobs in Santiago and, moreover, it is a family-owned business, which generates trust,” said Noriega. In addition, he described the visit as “very positive” because it allowed him to learn in greater detail about different aspects related to the passenger transport sector.
