The Castrosua that started rolling in 2019

January 29, 2020

The end of one year and the beginning of a new one is always a good time to take stock of all the milestones and relevant moments that our bodies have starred in throughout the months and to set new challenges for the new year ahead.

2019 has meant another 12 months for Grupo Castrosua, during which new bodies began to travel through cities, roads, and highways, both in Spain and abroad. Urban, suburban, and interurban, we have always personalized each of the models, adapting them to each client, not only in the specified specifications but also advising them on which features best suit the uses of each coach or bus that leaves our factories.

In short, we look back to review some of the new Stellae, New City, City Versus, and Magnus models that have begun their journey in recent months.

New year, new bodies

We started 2019 in the Canary Islands, where Amanda Bus kicked off the presentations of our latest factory models. This new Stellae is 13 meters long and 3.6 meters high, and is bodied on a SCANIA KEB 4/2 chassis.

As extras, this bus was equipped with Thermoking air conditioning and hot/cold anti-fog, convection heating, a reversing camera, and a door with an emergency exit, electric operation, and remote control.

In addition, this Stellae included multiple amenities for passengers, ranging from USB ports to passenger diffusers, overhead luggage racks with individual lights, and diffusers. These amenities also extend to the driver, who can also enjoy USB ports, electric windows, and a front and rear video system.

First deliveries of Castrosua Bodies 2019

Grupo Castrosua’s activity continued during the first two months of the year with three new bus deliveries in different parts of the peninsula.

12 new City Versus models are now running in Salamanca

In January, 12 new natural gas-powered City Versus buses arrived in Salamanca as part of Grupo Ruiz’s commitment to sustainable mobility. These are models bodied on a MAN NL 313/F GNC (A22) chassis.

These vehicles are 12 meters long and have a capacity of 91 passengers, as well as space for up to two wheelchairs.

Seville incorporates up to 30 new New City models

Up to 30 new GNC New City models from Grupo Castrosua became part of the Tussam fleet in Seville in 2019. Nine of these buses were bodied on MAN chassis and twenty-one on Scania chassis.

All these vehicles are 12 meters long and have three doors with approved space for wheelchairs, highlighting among their technical features the automatic and manual ramp from Hidral, Hispacold air conditioning, and the incorporation of new LED lights for both low and high beams.

8 new Castrosua models arrive at Guaguas Municipales

Another significant addition in 2019 is the major investment made by Guagas Municipales in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which has incorporated 8 articulated 18-meter, 3-door City Versus models onto MAN A24 chassis into its fleet. These are Class I approved and can accommodate up to 114 standing passengers, with 36 seats and two spaces for wheelchairs.

Approaching summer at Grupo Castrosua

Spring 2019 began with launches in Galicia and Madrid. Specifically, with the delivery of a 13-meter Magnus.E unit on a Scania KUB 4×2 chassis to Empresas Montes and a Stellae to Outeiral Autobuses, bodied on a Scania KEB 4×2 chassis.

This Stellae is 13 meters long and stands 3.60 meters high, with a capacity for up to 55 passengers. It stands out for its finishes, with reclining faux leather upholstered seats, two-point seatbelts, footrests, and magazine racks. A true luxury for passengers!

On the other hand, this new vehicle is also prepared for adverse weather conditions, whether cold or hot, with convection heating throughout the vehicle, a pre-heater, and hot/cold anti-fog.

May was a key month for Grupo Castrosua, with the delivery of several significant models to different clients. To start the month, we experienced one of the major milestones of this spring: the arrival of the first Castrosua Magnus.H in Catalonia, our hybrid bodied on a Scania chassis.

Completing these dates, we delivered a Stellae to Autocares Bustelo, a 13-meter vehicle with space for 55 passengers, bodied on a Mercedes-Benz España OC500 chassis with 460HP; and 10 new GNC-powered Magnus.E models to Empresa Martín, 12.8 meters long and bodied on a Scania chassis. These are modern, more sustainable, safer, and more comfortable vehicles.

Summer deliveries

Summer is generally a quiet time for the sector, although two new deliveries were successfully completed. On one hand, we delivered a new Stellae that became part of the Autocares Etrambus fleet. This Stellae is 13 meters long and 3.60 meters high on a Scania KEB 4X2 chassis, a 55-seat vehicle equipped with air conditioning, convection heating, and individual air and light diffusers.

And, on the other hand, Grupo Ruiz renewed its fleet with Grupo Castrosua. In July, they acquired 4 buses bodied on Scania NUB chassis, powered by natural gas, a significant improvement in sustainable mobility. Added to this is the use of new technologies, as the buses feature onboard WiFi, an alert system to announce arrival at stops, or a mobile application with detailed information on waiting times or routes.

Back from vacation at Grupo Castrosua

The return from vacation is always a good time for new bodies to hit the roads. These have been the most notable deliveries that the arrival of autumn has brought us: a new fleet of AeroExprés arrived in Tenerife, Empresas Montes incorporated a new Magnus.E, and the Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid incorporated three new GNC-powered Magnus.E models.

An unforgettable end of the year at Grupo Castrosua

The end of the year has brought various additions in Melilla, Tenerife, and Palma, concluding with a very special delivery: a Magnus.E that traveled to Abu Dhabi.

Two new diesel New City models, bodied on MAN chassis, were already part of the COA Melilla fleet. With these two new buses, which stand out for the inclusion of a driver’s cabin, the Melilla-based company strengthened its service in the autonomous city.

In November, the company Global tested one of our Magnus.H Scania Castrosua from Titsa and, on the other hand, the first of the 28 new articulated New City models on Scania chassis began to operate as part of the Palma de Mallorca bus network, which is planned to be reinforced before spring of this year.

There is no doubt that this has been a great year for our bodies; we could not mention them all as over 500 units were delivered. We will continue to work hard to offer the best service and the most specialized advice during this new year, full of opportunities to continue exploring the world together. Will you join us?
