Why is it important to achieve a happy work environment and how do we foster it at Grupo Castrosua?

Today, March 20th, marks the International Day of Happiness. More and more companies are committed to promoting happy work environments, which contribute to improving the well-being and, consequently, the effectiveness of our staff. This has become crucial at this stage of the century for companies to generate a culture of belonging and to retain and attract new talent to our organizations.

For some years now, to improve and advance this premise, our company has promoted an Office of Development and Well-being, headed by our colleague Laura Vergara, a graduate in Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela, a specialist in Positive Psychology, and with a Postgraduate degree in Talent Management from the European Business School. Our colleague reminds us that the World Happiness Day “was proclaimed by the UN in 2012 to recognize the importance of this issue and well-being as universal aspirations of people”.

From aspirations to realities

But in this post, at Grupo Castrosua, we are not just going to talk about aspirations. We want to tell you how we have turned them into reality.

To address the work carried out by our Office of Development and Well-being, we have adopted both an individual and a collective perspective. In this regard, at Grupo Castrosua, we have worked on the basic pillars of personal well-being by providing practical tools to help us in crucial areas such as emotional regulation, stress reduction, establishing empowering beliefs, and training in character skills and strengths, among other issues.

Of course, we have dedicated ample space to knowledge transfer and psychoeducation as fundamental angles for understanding how our beliefs, emotions, and behaviors affect us and how, depending on our relationship with them, we obtain one result or another in certain situations.

Collective point of view

Similarly, from a collective point of view, our line of action has focused on self-awareness and promoting self-care through workshops, such as the one we organized to foster methods that help us improve sleep hygiene, led by an expert professional in the field. We have also had the participation of Management in practical workshops aimed at enhancing transformational leadership by applying pillars of group psychology.

For the current year, the Office of Development and Well-being is committed to continuing to care for our most valuable asset: people. To this end, we will focus on communication and, consequently, on corporate culture as key assets in creating a healthy context for our people.

Likewise, we will continue to offer our proposal of actions and practical tools to increase our personal well-being in our daily lives.

And you, how do you take care of your well-being? Tell us in the comments! We will be delighted to receive suggestions that help us improve our action plan in this area! Happy International Day of Happiness to all!
