The company Salamanca de Transportes, belonging to Grupo Ruiz, has presented five new buses with New City bodywork from Grupo Castrosua on an Iveco Urbanway chassis, powered by compressed natural gas. The event, held at the operator’s depot and attended by the mayor of the city, Carlos García Carbayo, took place last Thursday, May 6th. The vehicles will enter service at the end of May or the beginning of June, once the registration process is completed.
With these new vehicles, out of Salamanca de Transportes’ total fleet of 62 buses, only 12 will run on diesel, which, in the words of the mayor, demonstrates the municipal commitment to modernizing the service and respecting the environment.
The units, 12 meters long and with 3 doors, have 23 seats, two spaces for wheelchairs with seatbelts, and can carry up to 73 standing passengers. They are equipped with double ramps, automatic and manual, to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, as well as USB ports for passengers, air conditioning, a fire extinguishing system, cameras at the doors and for reversing, and interior signage, among other features. The driver’s area is completely ergonomic, with a seat with lumbar adjustment, armrest, and seatbelt, and also features a semi-vandal-proof partition. In terms of their exterior, all lighting is LED and the rearview mirrors are heated.
