The Cabildo presented the 37 new Titsa buses on Wednesday, May 17th, which will begin operating on different lines in the metropolitan area, north, and south of the island. They are more accessible, safer, and more environmentally friendly.

The presentation of the new fleet was attended by the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Carlos Alonso; the insular director of Fomento, Miguel Becerra; the manager of Titsa, Jacobo Kalitovics; the general director of Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yasmina García, and municipal representatives, including the mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares. Also present were executives from Scania and Castrosua, such as its General Director Pedro J. Juan Boix.

The manager of Titsa, Jacobo Kalitovics, recalled that in Titsa’s almost 40 years of existence (it will celebrate its anniversary next January), the buses have transported 1.2 billion passengers and have traveled 1.1 billion kilometers. Since the new fleet was launched in 2015, 255,000 liters of fuel have been saved.

The units, acquired through a tender to Castrosua and Scania, will enhance the efficiency and reliability of the transport service provided by TITSA and contribute more significantly to preserving the environment, by complying with the Euro 6 low-emission standards.

This new fleet includes 6 interurban units, Stellae bodywork, 15 meters long, for long-distance routes with a capacity for 67 passengers and one space for a wheelchair. There are also 20 standard interurban vehicles, bodied on Magnus.E, between 12 and 13 meters, with 47 seats and 2 for wheelchairs; 4 suburban vehicles with Magnus.E LE bodywork, 13 meters long, for 39 passengers and 2 for wheelchairs; and 7 Magnus.E LE units, 11 meters long, with a capacity for 35 passengers and two for wheelchairs.

The new Titsa fleet features the latest advancements in accessibility, safety, and environmental features, such as a body lifting and lowering system that facilitates entry for people with reduced mobility, specific access for wheelchair users via lifting platforms and reserved space for them, STOP buttons with Braille inscriptions, and optical indicators for people with visual impairments, among others. Additionally, they incorporate improvements to meet user needs, such as USB ports for charging mobile devices or TFT technology screens.

With this delivery of 37 buses, a total of 138 units have now been delivered to Titsa since 2015. From here, Grupo Castrosua thanks Titsa for the trust placed in them.
