Last Friday, February 9, 15 high-floor Magnus E units, bodied by Grupo Castrosua for Global on MAN RR2 chassis, were presented. The 12-meter long units have 47 seats for passengers, 21 standing passengers, and space for a wheelchair. The vehicles are equipped with everything necessary to offer maximum safety and comfort and have a large luggage compartment of up to 3.3 m3.
The presentation, led by Manuel Suárez Peñate, President of Global, and Víctor Quintana, General Director of Global, took place in the Plaza de la Candelaria in the municipality of Ingenio, in the south of Gran Canaria. Attendees included the mayor of Ingenio, Juan Díaz, the Minister of Transport and Mobility of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Juan Francisco Trujillo Marrero; the general director of the Single Transport Authority of Gran Canaria (AUTGC), Miguel Ángel Pérez del Pino; the councilor for Transport and First Deputy Mayor of Ingenio, Juan Rafael Caballero, as well as executives from Grupo Castrosua and MAN Canarias.
During the presentation, Victor Quintana, General Director of Global, emphasized the need to promote messages and strategies that disseminate the values and benefits of public transport, such as energy efficiency and sustainable development.
The Global Magnus E units are equipped with a lifting ramp and regulatory indicators for their use and signaling, Hispacold air conditioning, Hanover line displays, two interior monitors for passenger information, a radio for the driver and passengers, and have a large luggage capacity. They also feature a modern Advanced Operations System, as well as ticket cancelling and vending machines.
The driver’s cabin is ergonomically designed to ensure comfortable and efficient driving. All necessary controls, such as air conditioning, anti-fog, radio, and display consoles, are housed in the upper dashboard unit, easily accessible without interfering with the driver’s visibility.
GLOBAL manages interurban passenger transport on the island of Gran Canaria. In the last two years, the company has renewed 32% (almost a third) of the 300 units that make up its fleet. The operator covers 25 million kilometers each year to transport almost 20 million passengers throughout the island of Gran Canaria.
Carrocera Castrosua, throughout its history, has bodied more than 500 units for the Canary Islands company.
