The mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the Councilor for Mobility, Elvira Maeso, have presented the new buses that will operate on lines 1, 5, and 21 of the city. Directors from MAN and Castrosua, as well as representatives from the EMT, were also present.
These are 15 Castrosua New City bodies, 12m in length and with 3 doors, on a MAN A22 chassis. The units comply with regulation 107 and are approved for Class I.
These buses feature the latest advancements in accessibility, with more dedicated space for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM), double ramps (automatic and manual), and integral pneumatic suspension and pneumatic system to facilitate passenger access by lowering the bus’s height when it stops. Additionally, they have a system to assist visually impaired individuals with buzzers and optical and acoustic indicators.
The vehicles have 23 seated places, space for up to 83 standing passengers, and two places for PRM (people with reduced mobility).
The new buses are equipped with a large, full-color front panel indicating the line number. This allows lines to be identified not only by number but also by an associated color or color combination.
On the roof, they have photovoltaic panels, similar to the rest of the fleet. This technology helps reduce fuel consumption and provides energy to the batteries even when the vehicles are turned off.
Inside, lighting is provided by LED technology, which is more environmentally friendly due to its low consumption. They also have USB ports for charging mobile devices during the journey.
With these additions, the Málaga City Council once again demonstrates its commitment to efficient and environmentally sustainable mobility, providing quality transport to encourage bus usage.
