June 16, 2017

Titsa (Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife) has acquired ten new articulated buses to renew and replace the vehicle fleet, as well as to improve the quality of service offered in the southern part of the island. These are 10 Magnus.E bodies from Castrosua on Scania chassis that comply with Regulation 107 and are approved in Class II.

The president of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, presented this new fleet accompanied by the island director of Public Works, Miguel Becerra; the manager of Titsa, Jacobo Kalitovics; the mayor of Granadilla, José Domingo Regalado, as well as representatives from the southern municipalities and other authorities, such as the Castrosua island representative, José Luis Baez.

The new articulated vehicles are low-floor, more modern, and have a larger capacity. They are 18.7 meters long, have 3 doors all with low entry, and can carry 52 seated passengers and over 80 standing, in addition to having 2 spaces for wheelchairs. They are equipped with a body lifting and lowering system and a kneeling system that facilitates entry for people with reduced mobility. Furthermore, they have reserved space for two wheelchairs, equipped with seat belts, as well as specific access for wheelchair users, lifting platforms, and two ramps (one automatic and one manual). On the other hand, the buttons have the word STOP and have Braille inscriptions. There are also two platform/ramp lowering request buttons, one on the outside and one on the inside. The vehicles have several visual indicators for people with reduced vision and guide sleeves on the horizontal handrail, from the front door to the reserved seats. Likewise, blind people, through the receiver-remote control approved by ONCE, will be able to activate and deactivate certain predefined messages such as ‘next stop’, ‘destination’, etc., which will be transmitted through interior and exterior public address systems.

In addition, they incorporate improvements to meet the needs of their users, such as USB ports for charging mobile devices and TFT technology screens that will allow viewing videos or displaying information about the route. Finally, the ticket validators and driver’s consoles will be at an appropriate height for operation even with people in wheelchairs.
