In an interview granted to our blog, the deputy director of Nexobús, one of the leading publications in the sector published in print and online, warns that the abundance of information nowadays can actually lead to misinformation. Alongside this, Daniel Gallego highlights the importance of specialized press in informing about a specific business sector and predicts a long life for print publications. Furthermore, he alludes to specialization as a fundamental factor for the future of bodywork companies

1.- How and when did the idea for the Nexobús publication arise? How has the publication evolved throughout its history?
The embryo of Nexobús is in Nexotur, the weekly newspaper for travel agencies published by Grupo NEXO. It began as a section of that newspaper, called Autocarismo, which gradually gained strength until the company decided to give it its own space. Thus, coinciding with the FIAA in 2000, Nexobús entered the market. Since then, we have been growing, improving content, and expanding our online offering with a daily newsletter and a recently revamped website.
2.- As deputy director of Nexobús, what kind of decisions do you have to make on a daily basis? What would you say is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Precisely, online information requires the most attention due to its immediacy. Choosing content is a daily obligation, but so is developing the sections for the print edition. The most rewarding aspect, without a doubt, is when the team’s work is recognized by readers.
3.- How many people make up the editorial team? Do you have an external network of collaborators?
Currently, I have three collaborators, a team responsible for producing all information on passenger transport, but also handling freight transport, as we also publish Nexotrans, a bi-weekly print publication with its corresponding digital portal, and the Nexolog electronic newsletter, on logistics related to road freight transport.
So, we don’t have time to get bored, honestly. Without their work, professionalism, dedication, and effort, it would not be possible to meet our deadlines for our readers.
4.- How do the print publication and the web portal complement each other in your business model? Which format do you think is more attractive to advertisers?
The synergy between both platforms is evident. The portal allows us continuous contact with readers and a constant flow of information, while the print edition supports more in-depth content, vehicle tests, opinion sections… Each has its space, but mutual collaboration is essential. In this way, our service is more complete. Regarding advertisers, they always have the final say. We are only here to help them in any way we can, whether with one platform or the other.
5.- Do you think print press and specialized publications are on their way out?
Absolutely not! In a globalized world like ours, information is crucial. It is true that there is a risk that, due to the volume of information we receive, we can fall into the paradox of misinformation. But specialized press is fundamental for their respective business sectors. Furthermore, print has a romantic, traditional component that I believe will never be lost.
6.- In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges facing the bodywork sector?
Specialization within that global world I mentioned earlier. The growing demands of customers, the commercialization of integral vehicles by manufacturers, and European homologations have imposed a certain obligation on bodywork manufacturers, who must adapt quickly to this new scenario. And the only way is through specialization, concentrating their efforts on areas where they can add greater value, expanding their international horizons, developing their own products, and reaching collaboration agreements with manufacturers or other bodywork companies. Castrosua’s successful strategy in this regard is a clear example, as demonstrated by its results.
7.- What is your assessment of Grupo Castrosua’s trajectory? And of its information policy?
The trajectory is impeccable. We are talking about one of the historic companies in the sector, with decades of good work and the recognition and affection of everyone involved in road passenger transport in our country. Talking about Castrosua is talking about one of the greats; seriousness, quality, and professionalism. Regarding its information policy, in addition to your company always being willing to collaborate with the press in everything we need, we must add a clear positive evolution in the dissemination of your activities in recent times. Which is much appreciated.
From Grupo Castrosua, we want to thank Daniel Gallego for his availability to answer our questions and wish him the greatest success in his work at Grupo Nexo. His work is fundamental to understanding and bringing to society the different branches of the business sector in which our company operates and other related fields.
