Christmas is one of the most special times of the year and also one of the moments we enjoy the most at Castrosua. United by a strong Christmas spirit, these dates are filled with excitement and great moments that remain in our memories. One of those moments is the Christmas dinner, where many colleagues gather to celebrate the holidays and everything achieved over the previous twelve months. On this occasion, nearly 400 colleagues attended.
We begin the evening
As has become tradition, this year the event took place at the Hotel Scala in Padrón, last Friday, December 21.
The evening began with a song performed by the Castrosua choir. It is always wonderful to listen to our colleagues, who, after so many hours of rehearsal, delight us with their voices and all their talent. We would like to once again give them the great applause they deserved after their fantastic performance.
Football trophies and tribute to Carlos Rial’s 25 years of service
Next came the presentation of the football trophies. The Carsa team received the runners-up trophy and Castrosua the champions’ trophy, having won the tournament final held on December 14. Truly admirable were the tenacity, skill and, above all, the sportsmanship that defined the style of play of both teams.
Another emotional moment was the presentation of a watch to our colleague Carlos Rial Rego, from the technical office, in recognition of his 25 years of work at Castrosua. Congratulations on these two and a half decades, Carlos!
Presentation of the Grupo Castrosua Awards
Not long ago, we spoke on this same blog about the different initiatives that have been launched in recent years in order to improve internal communication within the group. One of these initiatives is the Grupo Castrosua Awards, promoted by the Internal Communication Team and now in their fourth edition. The winners were also revealed during the Castrosua Christmas dinner.
In this third edition, 268 votes were received, with 127 colleagues nominated. Let us remember that it is the workforce itself that votes for the person who, in their opinion, deserves the award. Afterwards, from the list of candidates, the winner is chosen by a jury made up of members of the family that owns the group and randomly selected staff members.
The awards are divided into two categories. First, we learned the winners of the D. José Castro Award for Best Colleague, presented by Juan Luis Castro, president of the group. At Castrosua, the award went to Esteban Silva Freire, from the structure section, whose colleagues say he stands out because he is always willing to help others and train new team members, as well as interact with everyone regardless of their department.
At Carsa, the D. José Castro Award went to Abel García, valued by his colleagues as a person always willing to help and teach, in addition to being as good a colleague as he is a person.
The D. José Manuel Castro Awards for Best Professional were presented by Beatriz Castro. At Castrosua, the winner was Florentino Pena, deserving of the award for, in the words of his colleagues, “his experience and professionalism” and his meticulousness when carrying out his work.
In the case of Carsa, the award went to Alberto Cores, whose great professionalism and careful and attentive way of working were highlighted.
Gift raffle and speeches from management
After the presentation of the Grupo Castrosua Awards, the gift raffle took place. The highlight of the evening came with the raffle of two wellness experience packages including two days of relaxation. The two lucky winners will therefore enjoy a more than deserved rest after all the work carried out throughout the year — we hope you enjoy it very much!
At that moment, it was once again the choir’s turn to delight us with two more musical pieces. Afterwards, we listened to sincere and emotional words, first from Beatriz Castro, our CEO, and then from Juan Luis Castro, our president, who wanted to conclude his speech by making the guests sing and dance together. Beginning of the cocktail reception
Once the speeches ended, the cocktail reception began, where everyone had a wonderful time.
It was a perfect evening to put the finishing touch on this 2018.
