Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña), October 5, 2023. Castrosua has launched a new electric chassis bodywork for the commuter segment onto the market. This new low entry (class II) solution is a proposal in line with the high demands of interurban electromobility.
This year, Grupo Castrosua celebrates its 75th anniversary, which is why the bodywork has been named 75CS. Three-quarters of a century in the market, based on closeness and trust, are well worth a lasting tribute as a thank you to those who have made it possible for this family business to achieve such an important milestone.
This is the second venture into electromobility, following the launch of Nelec two years ago. Castrosua is once again venturing forward with Scania, which offers a 100% electric propulsion system, in a new development designed entirely in-house that will allow for a high level of customization and detail to configure exclusive designs for customers. The design is also intended to facilitate access to all mechanical components, making vehicle maintenance very simple.
This 13m, low entry class II prototype unit is equipped with 2 doors, complies with established regulations such as 66.02 (structural resistance) or 118.03 (fire behavior), and is also prepared to comply with the new General Safety Regulation. Structurally, the bodywork stands out for its lightness and adaptability; furthermore, it incorporates an indirect vision system to replace mirrors, improvements for driver’s seat ergonomics, an independent air conditioning duct, backlit stop buttons, a front door with a sensitive edge, air conditioning with a heat pump, automatic and manual ramps for PRM access, as well as USB chargers for the driver and passengers, among other features.
Completing its equipment, this specific unit has 4 stop signs, a rear-view camera, another camera at the door, a TFT screen in the driver’s area, exterior lighting above the doors, and a perimeter vision system (360º).
75CS also stands out for its environmental responsibility, as in addition to the electric chassis concept, other measures are included for greater energy efficiency thanks to the use of LED lighting throughout the entire vehicle, with which indirect interior lighting is used, creating a spacious and comfortable passenger cabin.
Constant innovation, teamwork, and the desire to never stop have been the driving forces behind this project. Once again, the lightness of the materials used in the bodywork manufacturing means that this vehicle actively contributes to its autonomy in the pursuit of sustainable mobility.
With this new launch, Castrosua aims to continue advancing in electromobility solutions, a path that began a few years ago and in which it firmly believes, showcasing the second-stage manufacturer as a promoter of added value, complementing and expanding mobility proposals and solutions for the market, and is already an alternative at the level of the demands required in this advance towards global decarbonization.
