Our company has been a finalist in the category of Best Internal Communication Strategy within the framework of the Premios Paraugas-Comunicación y Marketing de Galicia, promoted by the Communication Cluster. These awards were created with the idea of highlighting the quality and excellent work done in our region in the fields of advertising, design, publishing, printing, marketing, and corporate communication, both in companies and institutions.
More than 280 proposals participated in this call for entries across the different award categories: creativity, design, publishing, communication, and marketing.
Castrosua Group Candidacy
Our company’s candidacy, in the area of internal communication, was justified by the implementation of an Internal Communication Team (ECI) at our Santiago headquarters and, subsequently, another at our Vilagarcía de Arousa plant.
After detecting in a labor climate survey at the end of 2013 that many employees from the Castrosua Group’s production plants felt a great disconnect between them and management and office staff, we decided to implement an internal communication strategy in the company.
Fostering employee integration, minimizing distrust and/or tensions, and strengthening the sense of belonging and identification of all employees with the company were the cornerstones of this strategy.
The ECIs are made up of volunteers (up to a maximum of eight people per plant per year) and are supported by the company with a budget. These Teams meet once a month and prepare actions to energize internal communication within the company and others aimed at fostering camaraderie among workers.
Main Actions
To date, the ECIs publish an Internal Newsletter every semester, organize the annual Castrosua Group Awards to recognize the best colleague and best professional, and organize various activities such as padel, football, and cycling leagues and tournaments, ski trips, fishing trips, or multi-adventure sessions, as well as open house days for family and friends. In addition, the monthly initiative Breakfasts with the President and various solidarity actions with NGOs have been promoted.
Without a doubt, the Internal Communication Teams are exceeding the initially set objectives and have improved the company’s internal communication.
Awards Ceremony
These awards were presented last Friday, November 4th, at a gala during the celebration of the IV Galicia Communication Forum, in which Teresa Fernández, the company’s marketing manager, participated.
