At Castrosua, we work for equality

May 31, 2016

Achieving equality at work, in all its aspects, is a key issue for our company. Values such as equal treatment and non-discrimination constitute fundamental and unalterable principles in our company’s human resources management policy.

Within the framework of the Organic Law for Effective Equality between Women and Men and as a company committed to developing corporate social responsibility strategies, at Grupo Castrosua we have established an Equality Plan, which has been approved by a specific commission created within the company to address this issue.

In our company, as in the entire bodywork sector in general, the number of male operators is much higher than that of women. There is a clear disproportion in this regard, as 94% of our workers are male, compared to 6% female. In this regard, our Equality Plan states, in its conclusions, that there is no discriminatory treatment towards women within the company, but it acknowledges that it may be more difficult for them to access work in certain production areas of the company, as these are professions that are socially heavily masculinized.

Specific Actions

Precisely to reverse this situation, the document advocates for the development of a series of actions to reverse this situation and to work, fundamentally, in four distinct areas: equal opportunities in access to employment, work-life balance, professional classification and promotion, and communication. For each of these areas, one or more objectives are defined, and the planned actions to achieve them are detailed.

In this way, at Grupo Castrosua, we seek to promote measures of promotion and recognition for effective equality between women and men in the company, to foster equal treatment and equal employment opportunities at work, to ensure the same opportunities for access to employment and training for both sexes, and to promote measures that allow for the reconciliation of family and work life for women (and also for men) who make up our workforce.

Those interested in learning in depth about both the text of our Equality Plan and the results of the diagnostic study that served as a starting point for the development of the Plan can consult both documents through our Human Resources department.
